Fall 2008 Important Semester Dates & Deadlines!

Welcome back everyone! Classes begin Monday, August 25th so be sure to mark your calendars NOW with these important semester dates and deadlines:

  • Monday, Aug. 25 – Classes begin!
  • Friday, Aug. 29 – Last day to drop courses (w/o financial liability)
  • Friday, Sept. 5 – Last day to add/drop classes
  • Monday, Sept. 29 – Classes cancelled after 6 p.m. (Rosh Hashanah)
  • Tuesday, Sept. 30 – Classes cancelled until 6 p.m. (Rosh Hashanah)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 8 – Classes cancelled after 6 p.m. (Yom Kippur)
  • Thursday, Oct. 9 – Classes cancelled until 6 p.m. (Yom Kippur)
  • Friday, Nov. 7 – Last day to resign classes (with a letter R grade)
  • Wednesday, Nov. 26 – Sunday, Nov. 30 – No classes (Fall Recess)
  • Friday, Dec. 5 – Last day of classes!
  • Monday, Dec. 8 – Monday, Dec. 15 – Final exam period
  • Tuesday, Dec. 16 – Winter Recess begins!

Also, be sure to utilize and bookmark (and even print!) the Student Response Center (SRC) Calendars to look up other important dates and deadlines!

French & Spanish Proficiency Exams!

Are you planning on taking the French or Spanish Proficiency Exams? This is NOT a placement exam but rather a test intended for students with 3 or more years of high school French or Spanish. It tests elementary and intermediate level proficiency. By passing one of these exams, students will be waived of the Foreign Language General Education Requirement. The dates that these exams will be offered for the Fall 2008 semester are listed below:

Friday, September 19 – 4:45-6:50 p.m.

You may also want to sign on to TAURUS to see if your transfer courses match UB classes and degree requirements.

Do You Have Alternative/Exam Credit? Send Your Scores to UB Now!

Have you taken any of the following exams?

  • Advanced Placement (AP)
  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
  • DANTES Subject Standardized
  • General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE)
  • International Bachelorette (IB)

If you have taken one of more of these exams, be sure to Request Official Score Reports for Exam Credit Sent to UB. Remember that it usually takes about 6-8 weeks from the date your requested the scores for them to show up on your DARS report. Send your scores as soon as possible!
